A family-owned business from 1984, Plantation Cabinetry has been home to two generations of the Schroeder family of Hilton Head. Our designers take pride in providing our clients with high-quality products, imaginative, functional designs, and professional installations. For two generations, we have continued to create beautiful spaces and happy customers, and we are proud to say that much of our business comes from referrals. We enjoy partnering with every customer to design projects of every scale, design, and price range.
Our Team
Jim Schroeder, Owner & Designer
Jim began his career at Plantation in 1987, studying kitchen design and installation under the mentorship of experienced and dedicated members of the Plantation staff. He turned this opportunity into a successful career and continues to learn and grow with the business he loves. It has been more than 30 years since Jim joined the family business, but he remains dedicated to providing the best design services for the Hilton Head community.
Miriam Cotter, Designer
Miriam Cotter (Schroeder) joined Plantation Cabinetry four years after her parents purchased the company in 1988. Working with family has been a true blessing to her. Miriam offers thoughtful insights and creative approaches to the design process that she learned through years of experience. She enjoys incorporating future trends and innovations into her designs that, help to keep her designs fresh and thoughtful.
Alice Powell, Designer
Upon graduating, from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1993, with a degree in Interior Design, Alice began working in the Kitchen and Bath industry. Quickly realizing her passion for design and the enjoyment of meeting with clients, she was blessed to be hired by Plantation Cabinetry in 1999. At that time, she was hired by Dick and Patty Schroeder and was the business’s first “nonfamily” member of the business; in the years since, the Schroeder family has referred to her as their “adopted” daughter. Today she still works alongside the brother and sister team – Jim Schroeder and Miriam Cotter. Today, she is still dedicated to doing her very best for her clients – helping them design functional, beautiful spaces they will enjoy for years.
